Personal background
Being 28 years old, I'm a fun-loving person, living near Central Florida, who is currently working on freelance illustration for tabletop gaming, a painter, drawer, and has an interest in many things. I have a year old daughter and a loving boyfriend who works everyday delivering newspapers- being a night owl myself- I try to read and keep in the know of big changes to our perspective. I'm a former cast member at Walt Disney World (being there 8 years) and a former photographer for Kodak. Also a deeply spiritual sense of this world I love to find facts- and facts, learning, and study about the Universe and how it all works no matter how you look at it is so intriguing. I have an open view of things and like to pose thought to what is and what isn't based on my personal experiences and knowledge.

I found the mention of SETI in a college astronomy textbook while helping a friend in her schoolwork (I had not been fortunate to take college, so learning aside others is fun too!) and went straight to the SETI homepage. What a great way to contribute to the scientific community just by donating unused time and resources that I have been fortunate to have!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.I found the mention of SETI in a college astronomy textbook while helping a friend in her schoolwork (I had not been fortunate to take college, so learning aside others is fun too!) and went straight to the SETI homepage.
2. What a great way to contribute to the scientific community just by donating unused time and resources that I have been fortunate to have! The project itself is intriguing and the theory of life- much like our Earth- using radio signals on planets far away is quite a leap from home but quite plausible. I think even if we on Earth never find other life using methods like ours, the stretch to communicate and receive data in this way is a great measure to how people collaborate and help across our world.
3. My computer isn't the best. I know this. My CPU likes to run nearly 100% when I'm not doing anything and even after I kill processes. Don't judge... anyway: I know others who would love to participate too in this project but perhaps aren't the best at computer know-how or have the best graphics chip. While it doesn't take a whole lot of effort for the PC to run this program I'm sure many will still have trouble getting the processes to work, or even begin to understand how to start. I suggest on the website a "dummy" explanation of how to set this up and where to download the appropriate help around the interwebs if their computer is missing something that they can't explain in forums or on the help chats. I only say this because I didn't want to ask help chats before fixing myself and the process of getting started and what was going on was a little confusing for a while- and I know plenty of people who would just give up on installation. Perhaps this would grow a larger collective of people who would like to help but aren't as "literate" in the computer world.
