Profile: Paola Battaglia

Personal background
I am an Italian astrophysicist who has been keen on Astronomy since I was six. Now I am working at an European Space Agency probe for studing the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, which will be launched in 2007. My work is to assembly and test the radiometers used to detect the tiny 3K signal generated 300.000 years after the Big Bang. I like photography, especially the astronomical one. So, when I have some spare time, I go with my 8" newtonian telescope to observe sky wonders and take pictures of them. I like also talk about Astronomy with people, that's why I belong to the local Planetarium, where once every 15 days our amateur astronomy group meets.
