Personal background
I'm a housewife who actually doesn't end up staying at home very much! I run friends around in my car and am usually somewhere in the city doing something in between taking my husband to work and bringing him home. I'm 24, I love playing Sim games of all types, and I keep up with friends on the internet from back home in Virginia. I live in Texas, it's true, they do everything bigger in Texas, I'm still adjusting to it but it's a nice state to live in. My husband and I learned about SETI from a friend of ours who's now in Alaska (hey Steve!) and we enjoy bragging about who's doing faster work (of course it's my husband's computer).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe we are not alone in the Universe, but it may be quite a while before we discover actual intelligent life. I don't know how it will be when we discover that existence, we're such a militant people, they may think we're trying to attack them or take them over. NASA certainly needs to consider what to do if they find life out there, should they have some premade "peace" beacon made so that they don't think we're out to attack them. Of course, that's assuming we're even intelligent enough to understand their response to our ramblings. We're always assuming we're going to be the intelligent ones, we need to admit we may be the interspace ooze and they'll be the ones looking at us through the microscope going "Eww, make it go away!"
