Personal background
Hi!

I'm a 45+ retired accountant from around the area of Boston, Ma. USA.

I'm just a sci-fi buff who grew up with shows like Star Trek:TOS. There was never enough good sci-fi on TV so I found myself delving into the books of Asimov, Clarke, Niven, Brin, etc. Sci-fi eventually led me to an interest in science fact.

I still remember being an over eager kid visiting Cape Canaveral in the early 70s, seeing the designs for the Space Shuttle and being absolutely amazed.

I've followed NASA as closely as I could over the years and I guess it's just been a life long fascination.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I got brought into the Seti@home project many years ago through Carl Sagan's Planetary Society. I always thought the project was a worthwhile goal even though my computer could take as long as four or five days to complete a WU. But, as sometimes happens, real life gets in the way of certain goals one sets and my account got lost in the mists of time.

I was watching a lecture on TED just a few days ago and couldn't believe my ears when I heard Seti@home was still up and running so I've downloaded the software and started again. I was amazed at all the projects this new BOINC software handle.

For me, it's never been a question of if we hear ET, just a matter of when. I still believe that. Good luck hunting!
