I run SETI on all of my home computers to support the cause.
My view, I do not believe that "E.T." would use a radio wave like we do. The white noise makes it hard to send a strong signal that would reach Earth. However I also think we should be lessoning to the white noise because the sound of a transmit ion could be so vary faint that we could miss it. But I do believe that if ET wanted to send us a single it would be a faster form of transfer like light or tech that we are not familiar with. I also think that if E.T. really wanted or needed to communicate with us they would find a way.
My suggestion would be to change the screen saver to flying thru an actual chart of space.
