Personal background
I'm a computer tech in Las Vegas, Nevada. I've always had a facination with space and the idea that 'we are not alone.' I'm a big sci-fi buff. I don't think ET would be that spectacular though.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I totally believe that ET life exists! Admittedly I am puzzled as to why we can't seem to prove it. But there have been other species that have existed on this planet for thousands of years before we found it also, so perhaps space would take longer.
I think finding life would cause a huge rewrite of many texts, political positions, and religious beliefs. As such I don't think a discovery like this would be a blessing to everyone. This doesn't take into account if contact is hostile or friendly. With that in mind I'm not sure if transmitting before researching would be to keen an idea.
I run SETI@home 24/7 with breaks when I need all the processing power of my systems. My biggest interest would be in the difference in evolvement and how much time it took for each species to develope it's technologies. Are we all the same out there?
