Personal background
I'm a journalist. For the past 28 years I've been the art and architecture critic for the Akron Beacon Journal, the original Knight (of Knight-Ridder infamy) newspaper. I'm married, and we have a grown daughter, also married. I have a master's degree in art history and an MFA in drawing and painting. I also do lampwork and jewelry making, photography and some printmaking. We have two dogs, Super Trooper and Heidi, a beagle and a lab mix. At this moment they're outside in the yard in the dark chasing each other around and acting like puppies with spring fever.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think SETI@home sounds like a worthwhile project, a little bit flaky, but I like a little flakiness now and then. It's also nice to know, isolated as we are at our computers, that it's also possible to be part of a much larger community and a greater endeavor.
