Profile: Gary Nelson

Personal background
I am retired U. S. Navy Aviation Electronics Technician with over 10,000 flight hours in EC-130 TACAMO project. I also spent eight years as a Recruit Company Commander at RTC Great Lakes, Illinois.

After retirement from the navy, I was employed at XEROX Corp., as a Field Service Engineer, working on X-ray source generation and processing, high-speed copiers, COMPAQ computers, and wide-format printers (54"). I retired from XEROX in 2001.

I drove truck cross-country for seven years, and left that for a stint in the Financial Services industry. I stayed with that for three years, and found that my timing was absolutely wrong.

I retired from all aspects of working life, and moved to a rural community in Tennessee, about 110 miles north of Memphis, on the Tennessee/Kentucky border (I can see Kentucky from my back porch).

I am a ham radio operator, and plan to have a station operational at this location within three years.

I look forward to hearing from anyone on the team.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home to assist the scientists in crunching the enormous amounts of data obtained in their research. I feel it is a worthwhile project, and also tun three other applications with BOINC Manager. The computer is a quad-processor, 2.5Ghz computer that runs 24/7. I have been doing this for about three months.
