I run SETI@home because I love the idea that millions of people around the world are voluntarily using their idle computer processing power toward a common goal of communication. I like being a part of that. Maybe we won't communicate with any extra-terrestrials. But in a small way we've unified. Maybe one day SETI@home will be remembered as one of the first steps linking us all in a peaceful existence. Or, maybe computers *will* take over the world, and that's all the extra-terrestrials will find. Either way it's a great story, and I love a great story.
