Spending a lifetime inside a room?
Changin' the whole world with just a tune ...?
I wanna know ..."

Tim Russ

Hi there!
I'm a technical draftsman in landscape and enviromental planning and worked as freelancer for over nine years as science educator at the ZEISS-Planetarium and the Westphalian Museum of Natural History http://www.lwl.org/LWL/Kultur/WMfN/Zeiss_Planetarium/
I also hold a degree in "Media-Design" and "European Media Studies".

I did shows at "our" local planetarium in Muenster. It's a really modern one. It has a dome-diameter of 20 meters (65 ft.) and has the new optical starprojector UNIVERSARIUM VIII from ZEISS/Jena installed. All things are very computerised - one thing, I like very much at it. Nowadays it also has the sharpest 8K digital fulldome system in the world installed! FullDome - I love it.
Well - and the best thing with this hobby was - I got paid for it. Who can say that about his hobby? *g*

I like reading (astronomical books ... but also normal stories), fly RC-modelplane and go walking to find some "treasure" with my GPS.

I´m doing research and development in immersive projection systems - also known in the Planetarium and Museum area as FullDome or Immersive Cinema.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The Drake-formula says, that it is REALLY unlikely to find extraterrestrial life.

On the other hand there is a film, called "CONTACT", based upon a novel by Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan. I guess, you still know, who Carl Sagan was?!

In this film, there's one dialog, that says it all ...
[FONT]"There are 400 billion stars out there just in our galaxy alone. If only one out of a million of those had planets; if just one out of a million of those had life; and if just one out of a million of those had intelligent life - there would be literally millions of civilizations out there. If there wasn't - it'd be an awful waste of space."[FONT]

This Seti-Project with it's special kind of computer network might find something, sometime, somewhere ...

Asked about benefits, I have to wonder. All of humanity is asking many questions. We all want to live in peace and prosperity. One thing is needed for that - we have to find a "new view" - just look over your fence. Or - as the Beatles already sung "Imagine ...". This world belongs to us and we can build a "new" world together - just start with your "own little world" - your family.

Should we make ourselves "seen" for other intelligence "out there"? Well, there are still a few probes flying through our solarsystem ...

Why did I founded a Seti-Group?

I'm worked for a long time in science education at a museum and planetarium. Why not build a kind of Seti-Community for all people interested in it? Friendship round the world would be great.

LIVE DESERVES RESPECT! and should be seen as that ... so, maybe this community helps to find THAT "hot" Seti@home-datapackage?!

What I dream of? That the actress Judie Foster joins our group (even for only one package) - that would be "the" Seti@home signal to us.
