1. Yes, life does exist elsewhere in the universe. I believe that it more than likely will find us if they are more advanced. If we are a superior species then we will more than likely find it with one of our deep space probes.
2. I'm not sure if we should transmit a beacon. It would be like welcoming something we do not know anything about to Earth. I would like for us to discover new life and study it first, before brining it home.
3. I run SETI@HOME because I find the program interesting and I like where the project is going.
