Personal background
I have always been interested in space... From my earliest memories of the Gemini Missions to Science Fiction movies and books. I believe that there are intelligent lifeforms out there somewhere and that we were not just a fluke. I even generate my own visual images of space that could be or just might be seen from other regions of space. I hope to one day find that we aren't alone way out here in the spiral arm of the Milky Way!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I honestly believe that there has to be other life out there somewhere. I think that we will find it within my lifetime and probably closer than other people may think. Most likely we will make smaller discoveries of lifeforms that aren't intelligent, but that will only help to drive us further to find other intelligence somewhere in the universe.

I thought that this was a great idea when the Voyager spacecrafts were being launched and feel even stronger about it now. Information is relative to the particular people launching the probe or beacon. I believe the new technologies allow us to send information about the various cultures that make up our planet and the places that we have looked for other intelligent life.

I run SETI@home to be a part of the biggest computer solution to discovering if we are alone or not. The project is a great way for the entire populace of Earth to be a part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
