Personal background
Joined SETI@home in 2000. Usually have it running 24/7 but missed a few spots here and there....moving...sold computers, etc. but fairly constant for almost 16 years now (as of this writing).

Been a fan of space since I can remember. Have always been fascinated with the stars, dabbled in astronomy for a bit, followed the space program since the moon landing days, had shuttle tracking software on my computers for years and Apollo 13 is one of my all time favorite movies! (I've only watched it about 50 times...lol)

Do I believe there is life out there? Absolutely! There has to be. We are pretty naive to think we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe. I believe there is everything from life just beginning, where we were 30,000 years ago to life far more advanced than us, where we will be in a hundred thousand years...or more. Will we find out in my lifetime? Although I would love to say yes, I doubt it. We are just sticking our toe in the water at this stage. Maybe my grandchildren will find it....who knows. It's a fascinating thought, though.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I want to help....like looking for that proverbial needle in the haystack, the more eyes you have on it, the better your chances of finding it. If my computers are sitting at home, running up the power bill while I'm at work, I might as well put them to use!
