Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think forms of life are inevitable in clement environments. Intelligent life is probably much, much rarer and may or may not be out there. I do not expect a discovery for perhaps millenia, but it could happen tomorrow. We should keep searching. Benefits: Our own philosophies and views of ourselves will change profoundly in way we cannot even imagine. Interspecies exchange could be immensely valuable to both sides. On the other hand a hostil species may pre-emptively extinguish us.
2. Beacon: Yes, transmit.
3. I run Seti-@home as something of a public service and personal satisfaction. Keep up your program and help me to feel more involved.
