Personal background
Hello everyone.
I am from Seattle Washington and have been working in the computer industry for many years wearing many hats. Currently I work as a technician for a mortgage software company and spend much on my working day on the phone with people from banks.
I run Seti here at work on all of the computers that I have access to and have convinced all of my co-workers that I am truly going to be the one to find the aliens. :)
I dream of one day taking a vacation to somewhere outside of earth and am truly looking forward to seeing what advances in technology are still to come in my lifetime. I also want to write my own science fiction novel just so that it can come true in 100 years and maybe I could be looked back on as a visionary.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I imagine that there are forms of life in places that we have not even imagined. It might not be on another planet but maybe a star instead or maybe frozen in some comet. The most exciting thing for me to picture is life somewhere in the Milky Way that we could start communicate with relatively quickly. Whatever the case, I don’t think that other life would not be dangerous in terms of war or some immediate threat. I don't mind the idea of transmitting a beacon into space but I'd hate to be the one to pick up the power bill. ;)
I think that the Seti project is one of the best collaborations that we have on this planet. It has obviously involved people from all over the world with very similar goals, to find out if we are truly alone. I think finding other life would unite the world in way's that we never could have on our own. I hope it comes soon.
