Personal background
38 year old Welsh bloke who (like CERN) believes he's about to embark on an epic, life changing journey... Fingers crossed I guess...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Im trying to play a part, no matter how small, in a couple of things that mean something to me.

* The science that we desperately need to progress as a species (LHC@home),
* Communication with people that might already have found the things we’re looking for (SETI@home) and
* Surviving long enough to see if the first two came up with the goods (climateprediction.net)

Im interested (like so many other people) in CERN’s work with the LHC for the same reason as everyone else really. We know were on the horizon of something that will end the World, its just the more intelligent of us that realise that its going to end in the same way that it did when fire, electricity, sewerage and all the millions of life changing things came along. Not through being ingested by a home made Black Hole or the polarity of the Earth changing and flinging us in to the Sun (Weve all seen YouTube eh?!?!).

Of course, if either of these DOES happen, we wont be here for you to laugh at me so Ive got all bases covered there....
