Personal background
I'm 38 and live in Linz, Austria. Like so many other SETI-users i'm working in the Software Industry ;-) Besides spending to much time in front of the PC i like hiking, travelling, reading books and listening to music - classical as well as all sorts of rock and jazz. You can visit the website of me and my wife at http://members.liwest.at/swq, but it's all in German. By for now and have a nice day!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm running SETI because it's fun to participate on a worldwide project. My PC's usually run over night and so it's not a big deal to spend CPU-time. Are there ETI's? Well, it would make sense to me. The universe is that large and old, why shouldn't be there more like us? I'm pretty sure that - if someday we make contact - it would be very different to all our expectations. Like always in our history, mankind does have strong believes only to be proven wrong in a never expected way. Think about the "flat" Earth, the Sun revolving around the Earth, etc. If i am among the people who can witness the first encounter with any "Aliens" it would be really amazing. But i don't think so - that would be to good...
