Personal background
I'm an almost-thirty guy from the Midwest US and have always had a love for astronomy, cosmology, and deep thought, all of which I blame my father for. I'm a self-employed IT consultant and almost(finally) done with a Computer Science degree from the University of Minnesota. I'm also a Christian, which may seem incongruent with SETI, but I find no paradox. I'm engaged to a beautiful, creative woman named Nell, and we have a little boy named Noble.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI for the same reasons that convict me as a Christian and a believer in God: the Universe is simply too complex and well-formed to be an accident. From the largest Galaxy clusters to the smallest subatomic constructs that we don't yet fully understand, the structure of the Universe is so ornate and perfect, I don't see how such a thing could simply be a result of chance. I don't believe that a creator with any sense of love would place us in such a large fish bowl, only to be alone in it for eternity. If God loves life, as Christians believe he does, the Universe ought to be teeming with it. I joined the SETI Christian alliance for these reasons. I believe that life exists beyond our planet.

I love the new open platform (BOINC) that the project has adopted. The fact that individuals can dedicate their resources to other projects other than SETI is in the spirit of the distributed nature of the technology. I think it's great.

The BOINC client interface could us a little re-tooling. Interface is king, especially when you want to attract new users. I think it's a little bubble-gummy and could be more polished in order to match current interface trends.
