Profile: Dan C.

Personal background
I am a single guy, 48 years old from south central Pennsylvania. I started doing this a few years ago, then recently re-started. I am a very avid history buff and enjoy reading and researching local historical events. What does that have to do with Seti, you may ask. Well, I am also entirely convinced that we are not alone in this universe. How can we be? Not having a formal scientific backround, I find this is a good way to take a small part in the search for other intelligent life that has to be there.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am throughly convinced that Extraterrestrial life exists. I don't really have any proof of this, I just know. There has to be. If you look at "SCI-FI" and the technological advances that have been fortold by it, why is it such a leap to believe that intelligent life outside our world should exist.

As far as transmitting a beacon, yes. I'm not sure how it should be done, as it would have to be such that it could be recognised by another advanced race. However, It would be very benificial to be able to contact such a race. The amount of information that could be learned just in the method of contact would be worth the effort.

I run this program to be a part of the initial contact that has to come sooner or later. Will I be here when it does? Who knows. But, it is worth trying. We do not know when the contact will happen. But, I am confident that it will. We are expanding our world by the advances we are making. We have expanded into space. We have made great leaps in other areas of science. How can we not, sooner or later, attract the attention of a more advanced race? As our world gets bigger, we will notice our neighbors. And they will notice us.
