Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. It would be arrogant to think that we are the only intelligent life in the universe after 12 billion years. If we discover ET life it will be by accident. Design would have gotten us there years ago. As hostile as we are to each other, ET life better be good at defending itself.

2. Radio capability is only little more than 100 years old. At the speed of light, that is only long enough to reach a handful of near stars. A beacon would be worthwhile, but only as a legacy for long after we are consumed by our sun.

3. SETI@home is for my grandchildren. Maybe they will know of ET life because I participated. I think the project is one of the more worthwhile I know of. My only suggestion would be to add more participants. How, I do not know. I have certainly told all of my friends to participate.
