Personal background |
I live in Shippensburg, PA with my wife Pam and our three adopted Greyhound dogs. (That's me in the self portrait above with our first Greyhound Brooks...the painting is based on a photo my wife took of us at a Renaissance festival.) My wife and I were both born in 1955. I am a professional artist who does all types of painting and illustration, lots of caricature work and some part-time art teaching. I enjoy reading (many subjects...but obviously lots of books on astronomy, astrophysics, space exploration and astrobiology...fact and fiction). I also enjoy exercising (heavy on cardio) at a nearby fitness club. My wife and I devote a lot of time to our three Greyhounds (classes, special trips, therapy work, etc.).
A lot of my art is Greyhound related...and can be seen as prints at www.GreytArt.com and on products at
www.cafepress.com/kentroberts. I do a lot of art to aid Greyhound adoption, and in 2004 was honored to receive Personalized Greyhounds, Inc. Volunteer of the Year Award. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I run SETI@home for two reasons. One, I feel so many computers crunching data greatly increases the chances of picking up a signal sent from a distant world. Two, it is exciting to be a small part of a branch of science that one day may prove to have been the most important!
My view of the project is that it is pure genius...what a GREAT use of the internet!
No suggestions...I really like the "competitive teams" approach...keeps individuals "hungry" to gain more credits.
