Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Is life elsewhere?...hmmm...I dont know...thats what I want to find out!
Its so easy to say "I believe" or "not", but whats the truth?
What if it is?...hmmm...tough one...I dont know...Lets hope theyre nice :) what else can we do? Alien life could be anything, have any shape and form, any language (if any at all). Alien life could be anything. What they regard as good ethics, could be anything. So I guess anything could happen if we 'met someone else on the block'. But I will always be for the searching. Cause I belive the curriousity is what makes us human. Armageddon is the day we dont feel currious anymore. Thats far worse a fate than anything any aliens could possibly do to us (at least I hope so, he-he, since I guess you cant ever be sure)
Personaly I think 'they' will be peaceful. And no better or worse than humans.
I think that we'll find 'they' are pretty much a mere reflection of ourselves (or some of the things we HAVE been thru the times. in that regard; lets hope they have let behind THEIR nazi period)
I run the seti program cause I want to do whatever MY little share matters.
We should always be listening...looking...scouting 'out there'. For any kind of lifeform.
But Im sure that when we eventualy get the answer...we'll excite over it for maybe a year and then we're back to 'the latest political scandal' stuff again. It wont be till we can communicate the real impact will come. Alone KNOWING theyre out there wont change much on earth (depending on what we find ofcourse...hmmm, theres too many 'ifs' in the whole thing. one thing Im certain of however, is that if we dont find them...theyll find us)
Cynicaly you may say that any race has only one objective; "surviving" (at any cost) But even if...we wont pose a threat to anyones survival anytime soon I think.
So I endorce everyone to join in the search.
