Profile: Ron McDaniels

Personal background
I have lived in Southern California for nearly all of my life (~62 years). I spend about 50% of my time playing with computers and the rest of the time playing with grandchildren.

In my youth (~1960), I designed, debugged and deployed my first computer programs on a vacuum tube computer, the Bendix G15. I was a natural; hardware and software were as clear to me as breathing.
After a wonderful forty-year career, I graduated (retired) from software engineering.

I am a proponent of SETI and I am glad to be using my unused computer cycles to find if THEY really exist.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Because _I_ might be one of those who discover "them". (Yeah, and I read science fiction too!)

2. I can not imagine a universe without an abundance of life. Nor, can I can think of no better science than to discover it.

3. Discover something while I am still alive.
