Personal background
I'm Dad. I ran Slackware and Seti back in the 1990s when everyone thought Linux was magic.
My background is mainframes, & Unix. I was in router sales throughout the 90s.
Suddenly it is a life time later.

Recently my 11yo son and I watched an hour of "Contact". It brought back a thousand
memories of being lead geek in the 80s and 90s. Next morning I brought up Seti on two separate
Mac Minis. When I showed it to son, he was somewhat stunned. He was not aware of anything
like this was even possible. His 5th grade does not spend much time with science.

So Seti is here to stay in our house. I'm hoping the word gets out amongst the other kids.
If they see it, then maybe I can get more interested in it. Otherwise todays
kids would live life and never know about Seti.

As for those who laugh at a Mac mini... I can calmly assure you that my 4 core
Mac mini with 3tb of disk space, is many many times more powerful than the
entire S/370/3090 MVS system ($$$$) I was involved with for a major insurance company.
The world has made major strides in the last 30 years. Unfortunately most just take it for granted.
