Hi there- this is Dr. Robert I. Bruck (AKA- Boreal Bob) at NCSU in Raleigh NC.
I am a professor of Plant Pathology, Forestry, Ecology, Environmental Science,
Environmental Technology and Engineering-- needless to say- I can't hold a job.
I have long had a broad interest in all the Natural Science and have an on and off hobby of astronomy. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

SETI has to be the coolest scientific research project on the planet! As a scientist I can assure you that if "your proposal does not answer a real and economically important subject" your chance of getting funded is zero over infinity. SETI is science based on faith. As they say in "Contact"- it sure would be a waste of space! When I was at Cornell I was a real fan of Carl Sagan.
Seems only the good die young- sad. Carl was a dreamer and by the way- paid for it dearly. The "real", "hard" scientists would call him a fool- I called him a genius. Come on Carl point that signal up there in our direction! |
