Profile: Lemmy

Personal background
i work as a network and computer systems technician at swiss parliament, where i have to help to maintain a windows nt/2000 network. as quite geeky pal, i own several machines, which i use at home, in fact, i collected quite a museum of old computers throughout the years. my heart sticks with apple macintosh computers and linux/unix machines , i try to avoid microsoft and windows wherever i can, at least while not being at work. i'm 29 years old, like listening to music, watching sci- fi- movies, dating and sports.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. if one gets aware of the extreme number of those billions of galaxies, stars and most probably planet systems out there, it is simple fact of probalility, that extraterrestrial life has to exist. although i doubt, whether humanity will ever discover ist, because of the almost infinitely huge distances in space.

2. why not? humans should pack that beacon with information about earth, life and science. who knows? perhaps it will be found in several billions of years (afer humanity has already stopped to exist long ago).

3. I run seti@home to occupy the cpus of my computers for stress and heat tests after overclocking and fumbling around with their hardware, and, of course, in order to fulfil some reasonable work while i leave the alone.
