Personal background
Hi, my name is Major Tom ;)

I'm 40 years old and I'm living in Austria, very close to its capitol - Vienna.
I'm a passionated OverClocker, well - at least I was..... you can still find me occasionally on Austrian OC Forum.

My family (beloved wife and a total of 4 children) is consuming much of my spare time, so I'm much less active in assembling and testing new hardware than I was in former days. But from time to time....... like today :) .....

I'm not really a "Believer" - dont get me wrong - I do believe that "an empty universe would be an awful waste of space" ( Quote by C. Sagan, iirc ), but I think our chances to prove the existance of extraterrestrians are negligible, especially as long as we are only listening to radio signals. There must be a more "developed" way of talking to each other - some sort of warp-radio......

- btw, what would we tell "them"?

- that we're about to totally f... up our planet?
- that we're pretty cute? (especially in building weapons - and using them against each other)
- that a minority of people on our planet is wealthy, whilst the majority is fighting for their survival every day?

So I'll use BOINC only as a stress test - just 4 a number of days .... then I'm gonna activate Cool'N'Quiet, and erase the Boinc Client of my HDD...

Have Fun, Folks!

Computer details:

Athlon 64x2 (4600+), 2x2.4 GHz., S. 939, 2x512 MB DDR400 Ram - used as Video Machine (recording, cutting, converting)

- running at various speeds from 2x1 Ghz., undervolted to 2x2.8 GHz.

´sounds a bit like overkill, I know......

- but the board, the CPU and the RAMs were only 350 € (together) - so why try saving 150 Bucks (20% of total cost) and end up with a "weak" performance? (-50%, or so...)
I'm not gonna change this setup for the next 3 years - and there's nothing wrong with multitasking :D
