Personal background
Hello, everyone! Glad to finally be a part of this great community. My close friend and his wife have been members for I believe five years or so. As they have finally dragged me into the twentieth century(I know, please don't rush me more than I am...), the computer I have been talking myself out of is finally in my house. My three boys couldn't be happier, the little lady is a data entry person who types faster and more accurately than I think. As a result, she is not as impressed. At any rate, I got this overpriced toaster oven this far without burning the house to the ground, the first few tasks have gone better than expected, and I have been looking forward to getting myself and my astrology loving kids here for a long time. Again, many thanks for having me, and look out moderators and all other support staff, here I come! (cue the sound of 11500 tech support members yanking their power cords from the wall without even exiting windows...) mssr1966
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I run this program for the only too glaringly obvious, the babes! (When you all read about a forty year old chemist getting beat to death by his better half (Eastern U.S.), don't be sad, I will have deserved it.) We as a society have always strived to know more. As we are all aware, when SETI or another related application(Einstein, rosetta, etc...) finds the big break, we will all spend the rest of our lives happy that we were able and willing to try to make the lives of others better.
2. I truly believe that we will survive, and will only be stronger as time goes on. The feeling that we are getting closer each task and project launch is nearly indescribable. Who, with any understanding of our mission at all wouldn't want to be a part of it?
