I am a physician but have been out of clinical medicine for a few years while working with a small start-up biotech company in Central Florida. I also refurbish computers for the Gift from God Computer Foundation, fixing up computers for non-profit organizations, the under-privileged and for overseas missionaries and their sites. I have been active with Northland Distributed Church (www.northlandchurch.net) and have travelled overseas to investigate outreach projects. I am always interested in contacting people with similar or complementary interests.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I was doing SETI for several years prior. We moved to Florida and I could not transfer my account. I had lost my password and I no longer had that e-mail address. I did not restart afterwards since I was so disappointed that I lost all of that credit. But I guess I finally got over it and restarted this account.
1. I run SETI because I like to be part of something much bigger than anything I could possibly put together myself. It seems unlikely that out of the billions and trillions of stars out there, that there are not other inhabited worlds, some of which have to be quite a bit more advanced than our own.
2. I also can not imagine that a civilization on another world that has it together enough to acquire the technology of interstellar communication and possibly travel, and coordinate and commit the amount of resources necessary to do so, would not be "civilized" and "frendly" in our sense of these words. They would never be able to acquire the technology and the means to accomplish something so grand if they were a constantly warring and destructive "people."
3. How about a monthly SETI newsletter with updates, reviewing interesting "hits" on the SETI project, and profiling some of the more interesting groups and individuals participating in the distributed computing. |
