1. To help solve the important question, "Is there life beyond earth in the universe"?
2. Very important and it helps get through each day much easier knowing we are not the only ones in the universe, having that mindset helps live each day knowing that there is a future for all of us in this universe. We are not the only ones out there.
3. Suggestions: keep doing a great job in the search, science is the key to all of our futures, the more we know about what is going on in the universe and more open minded we are to everything, the more we will progress as a race.
