I run SETI@home for the fame and fortune that will come to me when one of my PCs finds ET. Actually, it is a worthwhile project and takes so little for me to help the cause.
Very few people that I come in contact with are aware of this project and the others using distributed processing. Of the few that were familiar with it, even fewer were aware of how easy it is to participate and how safe it is to have the software on their PCs. So, a better outreach program would probably net many more participants. A national news story, maybe? |
