Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Most likely extraterrestrial life exists. We'll probably discover it only if it exists on Mars the asteroid belt or the moons of Jupiter, possibly Saturn. The benefits of such a discovery are the certainty that it gives our scientists that their assumptions are correct and so encourages further exploration. We should set up a beacon just for the fun of it. That's why I run seti@home. I doubt that there are any radio generating civilizations sufficiently close to us in our space and time slice for us to hear them but, it's fun all the same.
