Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1 - I run SETI@home because i was very interested in the subject, and to see in fact what you people really do.

2 - I think that this project was a big vision.
Search for life in other places in the universe is a difficult task to assume.
the universe, with his huge unimaginible dimensions and natural mathematical limits, can´t be empty, this is a logical conclusion. There is billions, perhaps trillions of civilizations, more advanced or not, spread out there in the vacuum of space, in all stars, clusters and galaxies we found so far. Perhaps the natural distances, and the timeline they emerge, are so distant of each other that contact may be impossible. OR NOT.

The discovery of intelligence outside our own neibhorhood, in any form, will be the biggest impact in human history. ( If someone from goverment, military or "secret groups" did´t supress the discovery for political purpuses ).

But what i really believe is that, more that just listen the outer space, we must broadcast, huge amounts of data and information about ourselfes, our civilization and our destiny, to EVERY direction in space, non-stop for years. Because we will not exist for long on this planet. In a million years, perhaps we all will be fossiles, and this planet will be only a huge biosphere of non-intelligent (or not so much intteligent )lifeforms like always was since life flourish here. If someday, somewhere in the future, a civilization emerge anywhere in the universe, they have the chance to listen us.

Perhaps other civilizations tryed what we try today in the far past, millions of years ago, before natural extinction or destroing therselfes. But there was no one here intelligent enough and with the technological capabilities to listen. And the siginal that arrived this planet was gone forever. And perhaps millions of years from now, a signal arrives on this planet, huge amplified, but with no one here to listen.

With this astronomical natural limits of time and space, i think that the biggest go is to broadcast ourselfes with highest intensity as possible, while we are alive and exist as civilization.

Huge amounts of digital data, with a binary key to decode it, containing all the information of life on this planet, since DNA structure, Planet atmosphere and quimical composal, our civilization and social structure, and our position on the galaxy and universe. Repeatedely forever, to all directions of sphere space.

Becouse with this strategy, statisticly some intelligence, somewhere, in the time of the message takes to travel and arrives to then, will capture and listen. Perhaps never answer. but they will realize that we existed.
