Profile: Anupam Saha

Personal background
My name is Anupam Saha. I am a teacher, working in a senior secondary school in Sikkim, India. I help students in the senior secondary level with Physics. I am 52 years old. I studied Physics at the Graduate and Post-Graduate level. My Special Paper was Nuclear Physics. After post-graduating, I became a research scholar in the University of Calcutta. My field of research was "Atmospheric Electricity in relation to cloud physics". I fabricated the necessary instrumentation and worked for about 7 years. For various personal reasons I could not submit dissertation for Ph.D. but published a few papers. For 1 year I was a senior research fellow in the Saha Institute of Physics, Calcutta, India.
I have left active research in the year 1985.

I learnt about SETI Project sometime around 1971, from a book by Sir Arthur C. Clarke. Naturally I became interested and tried to collect reading material about the project - those days - rare. The interest is still there.

I will be retiring after about 6 years. I had an open heart bypass surgery about 3 years ago. I get sufficient free time. If I am made a member, I will be glad.

My hobbies include : circuit design, photography, philately, social-service as much my health permits.

I want to work seriously - this is not just a passing interest.
