62 yrs old, retired, hobies include homemade wine production,woodworking,using
the computer and riding my motorcycle. I have 3 grandchildren and a great wife
& kids. I served 14yrs in the USNavy and 8yrs in the PA-ANG(Msgt.USAF.Ret). As
you might have guessed, I am very concerned about the status of our present
and future national security as a product of our foriegn policy projections.
A longtime chessman, I would rather settle for a stalemate than to see my
kingdom checked afer a long series of bad moves(checkout what Senator Kerry is
about to demand we do for the sake of our misguided national honor/prestiege.
In past times, I never dreamed the USA would someday need to fear the HUNS?.
The SETI project may never yield a one-way contact or more importantly a
two-way contact, but suppose it someday does that? Would it cause us to
form a really strong alliance with all of the other Peoples of Earth; in an
effort to go forth and secure the borders Earth against an unknown element on
our celestial doorway ? ....... talk about new fronteers - maybe advanced or
perhaps more primative, or anywhere in between. We would concern ourselves
with communicative skills both ancient and inventive. We would begin to look
for powerful checks and balances to defend against threats that might be
described as unguessed/unknown/unmeasured threats. The possibilities abound.
I want to help us make contact with another intelligent entity that may be
able to show us how to solve those problems that prevent us from living
together in a world of harmony and peace. ........... dream oonnnnnnn. ??? |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I wish to run SETI@home in order to help make the discovery of another form
of intelligent communicator. I believe it can happen and that SETI is both
hopeful and possible/probable. I want it to be my bit of help that makes
it happen ! |
