Profile: Joseph Guida MD

Personal background
50 y/o retired MD amateur astronomer with 25" Obsession (Newtonian Truss Style) with premium figuring (Strehl = .978) and ServoCat wireless drive, using The Sky VI Planetarium software for slewing/GOTO capability. Live here in star-lit Arizona where the night skies are fantastic.
I plan soon to embark upon CCD imaging...may go for a 16" RC designed Meade scope, depending upon funding.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't just believe in ETI, I KNOW it's out there. We would be stupid not to fully expect even a few occurrances involving a modicum of intelligence, given the billions upon billions of stars out there, many sporting their own solar systems.

The project needs more Federal funding. We also need to hope that the guys running Arecibo and other sites are turning the sensitivity way up...any signal from other solar systems would be infinitesimally weak...so boost the gain, buddies!!!

Keep your fingers crossed. If we can prove that intelligent life exists elsewhere, maybe the religious fanatics will start to kill themselves and save the rest of us sane ones alot of aggravation.

God Bless Carl and others like him....
