Personal background
Celestial Navigation is one of the most ancient form of navigation used troughout history, having been refined in the last couple of century's almost to an art form. Still widely used today , by mariners , especially on small boats at sea, where it serve as a back up to sensitive electronics instruments.
I pride myself in the fact that I learned it by myself, and use it frequently on my boat.It permit's me to connect with the heaven's in a very intimate way, and to follow in the footsteps of all the ancient navigators who used it before the era of GPS and electronics.
It is said that before Einstein relativity, celestial navigation was the most complicated form of knowledge in it's time. Only a selected few were initiated to it, like Captain's and ship's officers.
We are tracing the same path of discovery with SETI, just like those before us, who left for unknown shore's century's past, in search of an answer to their question.... are we alone.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Seti@home permit's me to reconnect in much the same way with the heaven's above, right here on land, in my everyday life. I do believe in E.T.I.,and I am positively sure that somewhere out there, some lifeform is using our star to help it navigate on it's homeland ocean or desert...
