Personal background
I am a Thai studying for my Masters degree in Paris, France. I participated in SETI@HOME when it first started but later became inactive because I returned my laptop back to the company I worked for. After that I got busy and forgot all about it. Now I am back! (But alas! I could not reactivate my old account for some reasons)

I have always been interested in astronomy and about the "unknown" out there. I believe mankind is just a small part of the whole existence there is. When I was a kid, I watched a Japanese cartoon series on TV featuring a star express train going across the galaxy encountering different phenomenas and civilizations. I really liked it. Later, I got to like Star Trek series and Carl Sagan's Cosmos, too. I believe that Extraterresterial lifes do exist and it is a matter of time before the first contact happens. Maybe not in this lifetime, but it still thrills me be to be a part of this.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
This time, I was looking for some cool screen saver and I remembered the one that the classic SETI project used, so I came to check out the new version. It is cool! So I decided to use it and give my processor time to SETI@HOME, rather than to run some other CPU intensive screen savers.

I think the SETI project will take a very, very long time to find something, depending on the timing of a closeby civilization. But if we dont start to look at all, then it is not possible to get the first contact (unless we wait for them to visit us here on earth). So I still like the idea of the project.
