Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI@home is the most fascinating concept I have come across in ages. I would like to say that I stumbled across it by accident or have discovered it on my own, fact is, it was during one night of listening to my favorite syndicated radio talk show, Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell/George Noory, where I first heard of it.
I suppose the only question I have with regard to using radio signals to detect signs of extraterrestrial life or remnants of off world civilizations is have SETI considered using light or lasers to, say, create a beacon here on Earth, or is that possible? Is it possible to focus a beam of light and use it as a carrier for information? I dont fully understand the mechanics of such an endeavour, but to me, it is a thought provoking idea.
I for one, as sure as countless others, are profoundly honored to be a part of an undertaking of this magnitude.
