Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run the Seti project because I believe that there has to be life out there other than the beings on this planet and I doubt that we will be able to venture out into the galaxy itself for some time to come as the budgets for space exploration seem to be lessening all the time in favour of earthbound projects. It would be nice if we were reaching for the stars again and building space based research facilities and making the future of space travel more simple by moving towards space built vehicles perhaps on the moon or near earth orbit but since that will take a long time to achieve at the current pace of things helping Seti to find other intelligent life to at least communicate with till this happens is a good idea. There are so many stars and so many of them simply MUST have planets around them that life can't possibly be limited to this small globe on the outskirts of the milkyway galaxy. It would also be nice if money were not the main factor preventing future explorations of space and perhaps in the future money will be less important if the people of earth were to throw off their differences and join forces to push towards a better world for all rather than simply a better place for themselves to live in.

I also run the Rosetta project because I would like to help in some small but continuous way with the advancement of the science of healing. I have Marfan Syndrome myself and it has affected my eye sight, heart and limb length so I am exeptionally tall (6ft 6inches). This is (at least for me) not as debilitating an illness as some that the Rosetta project is researching into but it has made me aware of the possibilities that could be achieved within the field of science towards healing. It would be nice to think that in future there is some way of preventing others from getting illnesses like this and if no prevention can be found then at least to ease their suffering with better drugs and pain relief would be useful.
