Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been running Seti@home for several years because I am convinced that, if life could arise and evolve here on Earth, it could have arisen and evolved elsewhere in the Universe as well. What a joy it would be to find others like us out there (who aren't warlike!).

Although personally I don't think that other sufficiently advanced civilizations would communicate across space via electromagnetic waves, which take too long to arrive, nevertheless we should exhaust all possibilities before ruling them out as potential communication media.

It is entirely possible that we are the first species to achieve sentience; the upside would be that the universe is ours for the taking.
