Profile: Peter Wright

Personal background
Hi I am Peter the President of the European Radio Astronomy Club , we build and run Radio Telescopes all over Europe and also Participate Activly in Project Argus from the WWW.SETILEAGUE.org with our own station here in Mannheim Germany . we are doing our own data aquesition using 3 meter diameter Radio Telescopes on the 21 cm line with 6 MHz band width in theIF which goes directly to a 6 million channel A/D and a Grid computer. the interesting thing is that with only 3 meters of Dish we see 4.8° of the Sky a much larger Strip at any one time however we do not have the resolution of a large dish .

All in all ERAC Says Yes to SETI Research and it is only right that if we have any computer capacity free that we also Help in with SETI@Home.

It may be that cooperation in the future will get individuals also working with their own Radio Telescopes in thair back yards , the Equipment is their on the RF side the developement of a Digital back end using modern A/D fast sampling with FPGA data proccessing and PCI Express is almost ready . what we need is Radio Eyes looking every day every second for the call that will come , with cooled PHEMT Fets we can hear with also small ears the chirping of a cricket above the noise of a foot ball match

to Quote our american Freinds Lets go for it

Peter Wright
President of ERAC
