Profile: Indy4Life

Personal background
I am a 31 year old self employed computer programmer in Indianapolis, IN. I am also a Physics student at the University of Indianapolis.

My life pretty much revolves 100% around computers and science. While Physics is my area of schooling my other interests include climatology, geology, chemistry and astronomy. There is nothing more exciting that science.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am absolutely sure extraterrestial life exists. It is statistically impossible for us to be alone. I wouldn't want us to be alone. Knowing there is more in the universe than just us is a driving force. I don't personally think we will discover extraterrestrial life. I think it will discover us if it already hasn't. I think we need to evolve further before any other civilization would attempt to make contact with us. We are basically the slow kids on the block.

I think it is important for us to transmit a beacon for others to find us. My only concern is that not all civilizations will be peaceful. It would be ignorant for us to think we are the only planet that wages war. I hope once we do make contact that it will be with a peaceful life form.

I run SETI@home to help in the search. While my pc alone does no good it can help in a massive effort to search the skies. I have the processing power and bandwidth to spare. It would be a waste if it sat idle all day.
