Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
While I don't believe that life in the way of our Sci-Fi movies exist, I believe that life in some form exist somewhere. Finding this life will be a major step forward in human philosophy. I won't rule out the existence of civilizations in space, but I believe the chances are slim to find one. So why do I run Seti@home? I think that searching for civilizations or signals from civilizations is inspiring the people to support the search for life in general, so this search will not be cut short by short-sighted politicians as they want to root the money to some other projects. Best way to show those politicians that they are wrong that NOBODY is interested in this is to show a continuous support. And maybe, maybe we might find some signals or add some useful scientific data too. |
