Personal background
I'm a grad student at North Carolina State University and I should finish my Ph. D. in Materials Science & Engineering very soon. My future after that is very uncertain at the moment while I sort through job opportunities. When I'm not working on graduating, I work on my old Jeep CJ-7, play disc golf, and party with my friends.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As a scientist, the potential of this whole distributed computing idea is exciting. This particular SETI effort may not be adequate to find ET, but it helps lay the groundwork for the next step. So I will continue to crunch as long as there are projects to work on. Maybe some day I will develop a project that needs this level of computation.
