I am a middle-aged management consultant living in the Wine Country of Northern California, who has been a seti@home member for a long time. However, my computer finally crashed and I discovered that the classic version is no longer being donwloaded. So my new computer is up and running and I now have a brand new account.
Such is life in these realms.
It is unimaginable to me that we are alone in this vast universe. With the enormous drive toward life that exists on this little whirling sphere, there must a similar urge somewhere else in all that enormous space.
The real question is whether other life forms are more secure in their own nature and lack the need to "explore" and "make a space their own."
Perhaps our children and their children's children will someday know the answer to that basic question. I don't belive the matter will be settled on a genrally accepted factual basis during my life time.
