Profile: Tihomir Loncaric

Personal background
My name is Tihomir Loncaric, I was born in Croatia, '76. My current occupation is college and part time job for Croatian Telecom, which leaves me with no time for a hobby. Thus seti at home presents a great way of not spending too much time on a hoby (well... at least not my time ;-) I've been interested in computers for almost 15 years, and I think this is kind of a project that needs everyone's support. Your computer is idle 95% of time, and that time could be spent on much more valuable things to human race than running Millenium edition of flying toasters...
;) There is also one other good distributed computing site which fights cancer www.parabon.com, so I think they should get help too, it's just that they so far were not so transparent as SETI. They also use your computer for commercial purposes, but you can get paid for it or you can donate it to another cancer fighting charities.
A bit of commercial for charity organizations is never a mistake :)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am not in this because I am interrested in wether aliens really exist, I am almost certain that they exist. I am also certain that there are many different species, and that some look like bacteria whereas others are far bigger and in any way much different than us. Different evolution under diverse influences must have made strange looking beings. To prove that, just look animals living on the earth...what a diversity...and all under relatively similar conditions...
People are not unique in any way, as much as we all like to think we are. Aliens have little chance of looking just like us.
I don't know will ever humans succed in discovering aliens, specially in this way, but it is not important. It is important that we keep on trying, so we could eventually say that we did our best.
Humans should also participate actively in discovering other aliens, because they may be listening to us passively just as we do, so this is not enough.
I run seti at home at home and at work ;) Project is good, and I am sure if similar projects in space discovery would exist that we would all give our best to support them.
