Profile: Kevin Bruce

Personal background
I'm a web designer/developer (PHP/MySQL) that works at Maryland Sea Grant in College Park, Maryland. I've lived in GA,WA,VA,NC,OH,OR,PA and MD (in that order).

My background spans 11 years of design. The first 5 was designing custom afghans and four-color ads and catalogs at Riddle & Cockrell, Inc. During that fifth year I taught myself web design and Dreamweaver.

I left RCI to be an Art Director for CorData Technologies. My first task was to create the logo and corporate image for CorData. I talked clients through the process of designing their online businesses while directing one artist underneath me. I designed interior sites for Volvo Action Service on North America, Geneva Merchant Bank, and Bill Black Automotive.

After a year there, I had to take an exceptional offer with Healant e-care business. It meant a step down in position but it is a great team with a creative environment. There I became Senior Designer and designed AltMed.com (a site geared toward Alternative Medicine), Convergence Health (a informational health site sold to insurance companies to offer in employee health packages), xpressMD.com (a site that provides local Doctors an online office for their existing patients), helped to design CancerPage.com (which won 2 national design awards), and did some Information Architecture recommendations for DrDrew.com. I also did collateral for xpressMD.com.

In April 2001, I moved to Beaverton, OR (a Portland suburb) to start a freelance business called Bruce Creative. It was then that I developed my skills as a web developer using PHP/MySQL. My clients included triwisdom.com, Thw Worldwide Center (expandedliving.net), Josiah Ministries, Wescold and The National Coffee Association.
