Profile: Kevin McDaniels

Personal background
When I am not at work I like to build really "sick" Car audio systems.
Currently I am a Fire Controlman 1st Class for the U.S. NAVY.
I am also an Instructor for the Navy. I can not tell you to much as to what I do as most is classified, but just to give you some idea you can search the web using key words like "AEGIS, BMD, AN/SPY-1B, SPY-1B(v), SPY-1D, SPY-1D(V), AEGIS DDG, AEGIS CG."
Ladies I also happen to be single. I am 33 and have never been married, and have no children. I have not had a personal life in some time as the NAVY has kept me to busy. That is about to change as I am not re-enlisting again. I plan on having a life now.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I agree that SETI should be a focusing force for our planet as a whole.
Realistically though, history shows that nations, tribes, groups of people in general do not stop fighting with each other till they have a common enemy.
History also teaches us that technology superior explorers almost always colonize, enslave and eventually incorporate less "evolved" civilizations into their society.
In this light another fact comes into play. We have given our location away for the entire Universe the moment we started Radio Frequency broadcasts back in the 1930. We did not even think to question the ramifications as to whom or what might be listening.
We have some time, for it takes some time for RF to travel. There may be aliens on a planet circling Alpha Centari watching I Love Lucy, but at least they know we are here. Without SETI we are no better off in the grander view of things then hapless Indians, totally unaware that Europeans are on the way across a great sea to offer there hand in "friendship".
