Profile: Terry Conboy

Personal background
After working 30 years in telecommunications and cellular system engineering, I decided to go into semi-hibernation and largely bypass the working world. I still do occasional consulting on wireless system planning, but spend the rest of my time with astronomy, ham radio, cycling, and hanging out with my wife and our three Maine Coon cats.

We lived in Oregon, Washington, and northern California before settling in San Diego County. Other than the 3 million people and the insane cost of real estate, it's hard to beat!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Being a radio-active kind of guy, the thought of ET sending out microwave radio signals is compelling, but the odds are miniscule of listening in the right direction on the right frequency at the right time. Having millions of us churning through the data raises the odds slightly.

It's great to see the BOINC implementation stabilize. It was pretty rocky at first. Thanks to the technical gurus for hanging in there!
